Water is the primary cause of serious damage to diesel engines Water is abrasive to engine components and cylinder walls. In addition, water and contamination reduces the fuel's lubricating properties. This results in fuel pressure loss and poor performance. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to prevent water from contaminating fuel - condensation is constantly forming inside fuel tanks and storage vessels. Abrasive foreign matter can also be involuntarily introduced through frequent handling, storage and transportation. |
